2/3/11 End of Season Banquet –

Monday 2/7 6:30 pm Centreville HS Cafeteria please donate a dessert and please help with Serving and Clean up. The cost for Dinner $10.00 pp  $5.00 for kids under 8  (team members both Swimmers and Divers are already paid for from team dues) . Please RSVP to Karen Rice by sat 2/5 6 PM with how many are attending from your family and please indicate how you want to help kcrice1@aol.com thanks in advance.

2/3/11 End of season obligations
1.     Please turn in your Warm ups to Coach Rutz after school or bring to the Banquet.  You don’t want to get charged
2.     If you have not paid your team dues please do so ASAP.  This pays for all the activities your kids have enjoyed this year, including the banquet.
3.     We are collecting Money for a Swim Coaches Gift if you can give to any of the Captains or let me know and bring to the banquet.  I will purchase a gift certificate.  Divers are collecting on their own. 

1/31/2011 Regional Team update

Practice is Monday and Tuesday afternoon from 4:15-5:15 at Cub Run.  We do not get a bus so everyone must meet at the pool.  Please be ready by 4:15 to start practice.  Note, there is no scheduled practice for girls on Thursday so if they can get to a pool then that would be great for them.  Both Lauren and I will be at the meet. Regional Team dinner Wed. 6:30 PM

 

Practice attendance is only for Regional qualifiers and alternates.

1/28/2011 UPDATED MEET INFORMATION The meet will be on Saturday 1/29 with Timed Finals.  This means we will swim as usual but all times count towards medals and points and regions.  You will not have a second chance to better your time if you make finals.  Relays will be swum along with individual events. Coach McFeely will have event updates for you tomorrow. 

Coach Rutz has communicated the Dive Schedule.  They will Dive in the am.  Good Luck Divers!

Divers: Be at Cub Run at 12 noon, ready to go (NO BUS TRAPORTATION)

Swimmers: Meet at the High School for the bus at 3:15pm.  It will be a long night so bring plenty of water and healthy snacks.  Events are scheduled to begin @5:30.

1/28/2011 Message from Patrick Full Director of Student Actives at Oakton HS

Hello Everyone,

With the schools being closed on Friday we will have to run the meet as a TIMED FINALS format.  That means all events will run that day.  Diving will proceed swimming with the boys starting warm-ups at 12:30.  The girls diving will begin immediately following the boys competition.  Since we will be running the whole swim portion we may have to allow swim teams to warm-up while the girls diving is wrapping up.  This all depends on the timeline.  I know this is not ideal but I will assess as we go through the meet and after I touch base with the officials about how to speed up the meet.   We will not present awards throughout the evening at the breaks but instead may do a different presentation for swimmers and parents.  I will also assess this possibility during the meet.  I will clarify at the coaches meeting.  Please have your teams present at the same time listed for your warm-up during the preliminaries but be ready for changes.

 

I did look into other options, including a waiver for Sunday.  However, the FCPA schedule does not have a time slot available to accommodate either the diving or swimming portions.  Monday is also not an option.  I know the National District is swimming PreLims on Friday and Finals on Monday.  That is the benefit of having your own pool.  We do not have that luxury.

 

Eric and I will Seed the meet appropriately for a timed finals.

1/26/11 DISTRICT MEET INFORMATION

1. All SWIMMERS MUST ATTEND BOTH NIGHT TO SUPPORT YOUR TEAM.

2. EAT and Hydrate before the meet, and bring water to drink

3. Friday 1/28 And Saturday 1/29 Meets 1/28 Cub Run $6.00 entrance fee per person per night. The meets start at 5:30 with warm ups at 4:15.  Check back for when the bus will leave. 

Note: Finals on Sat 1/29 with all relay teams competing on Sat.

 

1/26/2011 Returning your warm ups-

For those that will not be moving on to Regional's we will begin collecting warm ups next week.  Please make sure they are clean and in good shape.  You can turn them into Coach Rutz's room after school, make sure she checks off that you have returned the don't just leave them.  If you do not turn in your team warmup you will be charged $95.00. You can order them directly from Cassels for $85.00.  Contact Cassels directly if interested. All warm ups are school property and must be turned in.

1/12/11 Friday please meet the bus at 5:15 bus leaves at 5:45

1/12/11 Thursday Practice CHANGE Dry-lands before practice on Thursday from 3-4:00 PM at  Cub Run.  This has been changed due to our cancellation from Tuesday's practice.

The kids should plan to meet the bus at 2:30 PM so they will be at Cub Run for 

dry-lands, then swim practice will be after 4:15-5:15.  Thanks so much!  Have a

1/7/11 Team dues- if you have not already paid your dues, please get them in, the amount is $65.

1/7/11 Warm ups were issued last night at the spaghetti team dinner, be mindful to return then in good condition, at the end of the season or you will be assessed $80, by the athletic department.

1/6/11 Friday please meet the bus at 6:45 with the bus leaving by 7:00 PM.  Warm ups will be handed out Thursday at the pasta dinner, along with the rest of the spirit wear.

Christmas Tree Sale-THANK YOU to those who worked the tree sale!!!!

Practice Note-

             Find some time to get to the pool on your own. If you truly want to accomplish something come Districts, Regions,& States, you simply can't take these few days off. Missing these few practices before the break is hard to swallow, so you need to continue grinding away & working hard on your own. If you look at the rosters of the other teams in our district, many of them are club swimmers.
